Our Invitation

Nevada County Arts Council invites art leaders across the county to participate in a Community of Practice for Equity in the Arts. Drop in on a series of conversations to learn more about equity in the arts and how to practically apply it within the workplace.

Why Join a Community of Practice

We believe that how we ground our support for the belonging we wish all residents of Nevada County to feel, should be reflected in the way we operate as organizations or creative businesses. Together, we hope to build public will around shared values which are of real meaning to our own communities, and which support our collective equity objectives.

Let's Work Together

Members of our Community of Practice will see equity as a process – a journey – through which we collectively develop practices that build confidence and capacity to address some of the core competencies of leadership for equity. Together, we will create opportunities for learning, build capability, share knowledge and reduce duplication of work.

Tell Us What You Need

Our creative sector is diverse, and made up of organizations of all sizes, shapes and stages of development. In early summer 2021 we asked our creative sector leaders what they felt needed and received a number of answers.

“Simply asking questions like, "Who is NOT participating in our group, who's voice is not being heard?" and "How can I reach past my ordinary circles to connect with people with different backgrounds than my own?”

“Thank you for doing this!”

“It is the most essential work we've done in the past 10 months.”

“Bring training sessions WE NEED THEM. OFFER MANY! Help move the dial on this.”
