MAP BADGE II.png

Nevada County spans the rolling foothills of California's Gold Country in the west to the High Sierra in the east. Between rivers, forests, meadows, ski slopes and vineyards, it is home to the Nisenan and the Washoe tribes, our county's oldest indigenous peoples, and is rich in cultural histories and the arts. Nevada County boasts outstanding year-round programming in music, theatre and dance; a density of artists and makers; and an unmatched festival culture. We are home to numerous galleries, wineries, workshops, museums, events, trails, hospitality and historic landmarks, each a highlight of our cultural heritage.

We hope you enjoy this interactive map of our cultural assets. Mapping is a first step towards developing a Cultural Plan, and a useful tool for both our own community and those planning a visit. The cultural resource inventory that fuels our map is maintained and managed by Nevada County Arts Council and made available for public use.

Nevada County Arts Council is grateful to the Nevada County Economic Resource Council, and by association, the County of Nevada, for providing valuable seed funds for the creation of our cultural asset map.
